Scott Elliott Atkinson

December 21, 1957 - February 19, 2003

Today, March 1, 2003, about 300 Jaycees, JCI Senators, familiy, and friends attended the Memorial Service for Scott Atkinson, JCI Senator 57300, Colorado Jaycee Governor 81, and Past President of the Denver Jaycees.

I think it is fair to say that we were all deeply moved by the rememberances offered by Scott's family members and closest friends from near and far. But we were also reminded that Scott would want to us carry on in the spirit of the Jaycees and JCI Senate, remembering always that "Service to humanity is the best work of life."

It is my hope that those of you who knew Scott Atkinson will contribute your rememberances and thoughts of him, to be added to those below — which I flat out swiped from the Legacy.com web site just now.

In the spirit of the Senate,

George C. Nowell #33085

Scott is survived by his father Kenneth D. Atkinson and step-mother Virginia Atkinson of Golden; his sister Nancy Gabaldon of Lakewood, and step-sisters Joni Earley of Arvada, Nancy Kipling of Arvada, and step-brother Barclay Goodson of Lakewood; also 11 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Kidney foundation of your choice. (Scott was on the donee list for a new kidney.)

There are bright sunny days, there are cloudy days. The Jaycees/Senate has lost one of it brighest rays of sunshine. Even on the cloudy days, Scott always had a smile to light up the world. Every time I feel the sun, I'll know that my friend is shining down on the Jaycee Community!

Scott, your passing serves as a reminder that each of us should cherish and hold close our friends and loved ones, because we never know when we'll have to say goodbye. You left the world a better place, and you will be sorely missed.

I'll miss you, Scott. Who is going to ask us when the Jaycees were founded? You made Jaycee Jeopardy fun. Your legacy will be forever with the Colorado Jaycees.

I knew Scott for many years and he never failed to cheer me up when I needed it. I regret the fact I hadn't seen him in many years. I miss you Scott.

I will miss Scott's interesting humor, hearing about his care and concern about his family and most of all the MANY emails throughout the month of January that he was having a Superbowl party! Scott - you are already deeply missed. You will stay in our hearts, thoughts and prayers always. May God Bless you for your many good deeds and keep you by his side forever.
