Requirements and Fees for a Senatorship

  1. Nominee must have been an U.S. Junior Chamber member for at least five (5) years.

  2. The person in charge of obtaining the Senatorship needs to complete the Senate's official application form. The nominee’s Local chapter president, the President of the Colorado Junior Chamber, and the U.S. Junior Chamber President must sign the application. When the local chapter president has signed the application, send the application and fees to the State President for his or her signature, along with a stamped envelope addressed to the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 7, Tulsa, OK 74102-0007.

  3. Fees: $300.00 payable to JCI (this was increased by $50 on 1/1/05)
    $ 75.00 payable to U.S. Junior Chamber
    Fees can be paid by check, money order, or credit card. (Money orders and credit cards process faster than checks.)

  4. NOTE: These fees do NOT include membership in the Colorado JCI Senate. Some chapters make at least an initial payment towards the new Senator’s Colorado Senate dues. (See Forms at top of this page.)

Senatorships for Jaycee Women or Jayceettes. There are former Jaycee Women or Jayceettes who are deserving of a Senatorship. Many did not join the Jaycees after 1985 or had aged out prior 1985, but without their hard work and dedication, the Ideals of the Jaycee movement would not have been extended to as many communities. If you know of a former Jaycee Woman or Jayceette who you feel is deserving of a Senatorship, please contact the Colorado JCI Senate President or Secretary to find out how to proceed.

Please allow six (6) to eight (8) weeks for processing and mailing of the application and paperwork back from JCI.

Suggested Presentation Guidelines

  1. If you are going to present the Senatorship at a state conference or other state event, be sure to talk with the State President at least a month prior. He or she will be happy to have the presentation done at that time, but will need to make the necessary scheduling arrangements.

  2. Keep the presentation a secret. It is much more fun to see the expression on the honoree’s face, when they realize that they are the newest Senator.

  3. Many presentations have been done where the honoree takes part in the presentation, but under the impression that the Senatorship is going to someone else.

  4. Invite the immediate family of the honoree to attend the presentation. Have a member of your chapter stay with the family and keep them out of sight of the honoree until time for the presentation.

  5. Many chapters give the senatorship at an annual meeting or awards dinner.

  6. Make arrangements for someone to take pictures.

  7. Remember to keep the presentation short, exciting and memorable for the honoree.

  8. Notify the Colorado JCI Senate President or Secretary as to where when you will be making the presentation. We enjoy being on hand to welcome the newest Senator. THIS IS IMPORTANT, since the Senate will provide the new Senator with a welcome packet including information on becoming a member.

  9. If you have any questions or would like other suggestions, feel free to contact the Colorado JCI Senate or an individual Senator. We are happy to assist you.
